  • 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten” —

    • The concept is simple, the rewards are priceless. Read a book (any book) to your newborn, infant, and/or toddler. The goal is to have read 1,000 books (yes you can repeat books) before your precious one starts kindergarten. Does it sound hard? Not really if you think about it. If you read just 1 book a night, you will have read about 365 books in a year. That is 730 books in two years and 1,095 books in three years. If you consider that most children start kindergarten at around 5 years of age, you have more time than you think (so get started). The key is perseverance. We make it exciting. When your child reaches a milestone (every 100 books read), stop by the library for a sticker, a treat, the next set of progress pages, and we’ll add your child’s name to the corresponding balloon on our cute 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten chart! Watch how reading helps them “soar” to new places!!

  • Lego Club

  • After School Specials

  • Wee Wigglers (Storytime for lap-sit through age 5)

Launchpads

What is a Launchpad, you say?   It is the first-ever secure, pre-loaded learning tablet especially for libraries and schools.  The Launchpad tablets are fun to explore, durable enough for little explorers, and loaded with interactive learning apps and games.  They are 100% secure ensuring no risk of exposure to unintended content and are pre-loaded with high quality subject areas grouped together by theme, grade level and age.

Mia Burrows’ enthusiasm  gave these 2 school teacher-parents an idea.   Unbeknownst to then Librarian Lennet  Froelich,  Karen and Ryan filled out separate grants for the Satanta Library and  secured enough money to purchase 14 more units.  These successful  grants were a HUGS  from Pioneer Electric ($1000) and a WESTERN KANSAS COMMUNITY FOUNDATION Grant ($644).  Are we excited?   YES!    Are the kids excited?  YES! These Launchpads are available for in-house use or checkout through their parents.  Come and see this very beneficial addition to the Satanta Library.
